UPDATE, September 26th, 10:55 p.m.: FC Bayern wins confidently in the DFB Cup

Thanks to a very concentrated performance, FC Bayern Munich confidently won the postponed first round game in the DFB Cup against third division team Preußen Münster 4-0! Even without a nominal central defender, the record champions had everything under control from the first second and set the course for victory with three goals before the break.

Little happened in the Preußenstadion in the second half. Munich slowed down a gear and only scored their fourth goal through Tel shortly before the end. The only downer for Thomas Tuchel: Serge Gnabry had to go out early and may have seriously injured his left forearm. Münster tried hard, but was completely harmless and only fired a single shot on goal by FCB debutant Daniel Peretz.

The home team did everything they could and sold well, but had no chance at all. Both teams continue with an away game in the league on Saturday. Prussia will then play at MSV Duisburg, Bayern will be visiting RB Leipzig for their Supercup revenge. Bye from Münster and see you next time!

UPDATE, September 26th, 9:40 p.m.: FCB leads confidently against Münster

FC Bayern are 3-0 up at half-time in the postponed cup game at Preußen Münster and are clearly heading for the second round. The record champions have to improvise with personnel today because all trained central defenders are unavailable, but even with Goretzka and Mazraoui in the back line, the guests have absolutely everything under control.

The FCB plays it down very seriously and presents itself as very happy to play in the old Preußenstadion. Choupo-Moting, Laimer and Krätzig made things clear with their goals. The only downside for Thomas Tuchel: Serge Gnabry had to go out after eleven minutes with a forearm injury. Let’s continue with the second half!

The 2023/24 DFB Cup season starts late for FC Bayern Munich. While numerous other teams have already made it into the second round, the German champions want to follow suit with third division team Preußen Münster on Tuesday evening.

When the first round of the DFB Cup was on the agenda for most other teams, FC Bayern was in action against RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup. Both Munich and Leipzig are only now having their first round duel in the cup.

The Munich team shouldn’t be lacking in self-confidence after six competitive games in a row without defeat. Last weekend, coach Thomas Tuchel’s team shot VfL Bochum out of the Allianz Arena 7-0 in the Bundesliga.

Preußen Münster are of course gross underdogs against Bayern, but recently the promoted team has been on track quite well, at least in the 3rd league. Last weekend, Münster drew 1-1 away at VfB Lübeck, before that there was a 2-0 win at second division relegated Sandhausen.
