Premiere of Bernhard Lang’s “Dora” at the Stuttgart State Opera: Great romp – culture

It pops. A hit on the timpani out of nowhere, like a shock, then an infernal drum starts, from the middle box, from the proscenium boxes, a lot of equipment is placed there with which you can make a fabulous noise. A magnificent surround effect, the rhythm cascades sway back and forth, over you, rolling from behind, from the sides, it’s exciting, also because you can feel how precisely everything is fixed and executed. Every hit, whatever it is, is exactly where it should be. Then the romp dies down, the orchestra starts, and it sounds a lot like Richard Wagner. At least for one significant moment.
