Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel does not want to hold grudges over his angry tussle with Tottenham coach Antonio Conte.

“No one was insulted, we didn’t have a fistfight. It’s not a big deal for me, it was part of this game. I enjoyed it, I think he did too. It wasn’t bad,” said Tuchel after the wild scenes shortly after 2-2 in the London Derby. Both coaches had seen the red card for their argument.

When the two shook hands after the final whistle, they would not let go at first, yelled at each other and had to be separated. The holding seemed to come from Tuchel. “I compare it to two players who have a little fight on the pitch but nothing happens, nobody gets hurt. This is Premier League football, the two coaches got involved because we both fought for our teams,” explained Tuchel.

Opponent Conte suggested that he and Tuchel should simply refrain from shaking hands next time. “He stays on his bench, I stay on my bench with my colleagues on one side and there is no problem,” said the Italian. He hopes that he and Tuchel will not be banned from their next games because of the scenes.
