Jürgen Klopp’s team draws with Manchester United. A late penalty saves the point. That’s not enough to push the Gunners, who were victorious the day before, out of first place again.

Liverpool FC is at the top of the league table Premier League going on. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team drew 2-2 (1-0) from Manchester United despite taking the lead and having a number of chances.

As a result of the draw, the Reds moved level with league leaders Arsenal FC on points (71), but Liverpool have a goal record that is nine goals worse. Arsenal had won 3-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion the day before. Defending champions Manchester City are in third place in the English football championship with 70 points.

After a slow start, Klopp’s team took control of the game and took the lead through Luis Diaz after an extended corner (23rd minute). Until half-time, the guests missed numerous top-class opportunities against a completely harmless United offensively.

The poor exploitation of opportunities took its toll after the restart: first Bruno Fernandes took advantage of a Liverpool passing error to score a dream goal (50th), then Kobbie Mainoo turned the now more even game with a flick into the far corner (67th). But Liverpool came back again and equalized the final score after a justified penalty by Mohamed Salah (84th).
