The Haaland transfer to Manchester City – not good news for Jürgen Klopp (54)!
Liverpool had just saved their chance against Aston Villa (2-1) in the master thriller against Manchester City when Klopp had to comment on the supposed setback in the competition with their permanent rivals.
When asked whether BVB striker Erling Haaland (21) would make ManCity even stronger next season, Klopp said: “Much stronger. He’s such a good player! Unfortunately, this is a very good transfer.”
For him, City is not a team that “only wins because of one player.” But Klopp even has an idea of how Haaland could work in the Guardiola system: “They have a special style of play. I think Erling will suddenly realize that he’s going to score a lot of goals from the back post where he just has to put his foot. He’ll love that.”
In the run-up to the mega Haaland deal, which is expected to cost the Manchester sheikh club around 350 million euros in total, Klopp had stated: “I know that there is a lot of talk about money out there, but this transfer will set new standards, let me put it this way.”
