As the league announced on Saturday, the Manchester City striker won the public vote, which was combined with the votes of the 20 club captains.
Outperformed Shearer and Cole
Haaland, who was recently named footballer of the year by sports journalists in England, had a superlative season after moving from Borussia Dortmund to Man City. The Norwegian has scored 36 goals so far, surpassing the previous Premier League record set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole (34 each). In addition, Haaland has scored twelve times in the current Champions League season and was instrumental in reaching the final against Inter Milan (June 10).
Haaland can also win the FA Cup with Man City next Saturday in the final against city rivals Manchester United. Haaland scored another three goals in the cup.
