Manchester City dismantles relegation candidate Bournemouth in the English Premier League. A Belgian stands out with four goal assists.

Even without goals from superstar Erling Haaland, England’s football champions Manchester City have underlined their exceptional position. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team managed well against AFC Bournemouth Premier League a clear 6:1 (3:0).

The former Dortmund player Haaland had some great chances during his 45-minute appearance, but still has eleven league goals. Jérémy Doku excelled with one goal and four assists.

Summer newcomer Doku gave the Cityzens the lead with his second goal of the season (30th minute). The Belgian perfectly prepared the 2-0 through Bernardo Silva three minutes later. The 21-year-old also played a major role in City’s third goal. Doku’s shot was deflected by former Dortmund player Manuel Akanji to make it 3-0 (38′).

Haaland substituted with ankle injury

Haaland was substituted because of an ankle injury, Guardiola said after the game: “We didn’t want to take any risks with him.” The Spaniard could not yet say whether the Norwegian star striker will be fit in time for Tuesday’s Champions League duel against Young Boys Bern.

Substitute Phil Foden increased the score to 4-0 (64′), Doku was again the passer. Bernardo Silva (83′) after a Doku cross and Nathan Aké (88′) made the final score 6-1 for City after the only Bournemouth goal by Luis Sinisterra (74′).

Arsenal suffer their first defeat of the season

Before their Champions League appearance at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (6.45 p.m./Amazon Prime Video), Newcastle United caused runner-up Arsenal FC to suffer their first defeat of the season. The Magpies won 1-0 (0-0) against Kai Havertz and the Gunners with a goal from Anthony Gordon (64th). The goal was checked for minutes by the video assistant, but was given. National player Havertz was lucky that he was shown a yellow card after a hard foul in the first half and was not sent off.

Record title holders Manchester United and the criticized coach Erik ten Hag can breathe a sigh of relief after the last-minute win at Fulham FC. Bruno Fernandes scored shortly before the end for the Red Devils (90th + 1) to make it 1-0. With 18 points, United remain in the upper midfield of the table.
