Premier League: Chelsea FC wins crazy London derby against Tottenham Hotspur – sending offs and VAR madness

Tottenham Hotspur missed out on regaining the top of the table in the English football championship due to its first defeat of the season.

Despite being twice outnumbered, the Spurs had to admit defeat 1:4 (1:1) in the London city duel with Chelsea FC despite an early lead.

The Spurs are now in second place, one point behind league leaders and defending champions Manchester City (6-1 against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday).

For Spurs, previously the only undefeated team in the Premier League, the encounter started according to plan with Dejan Kulusevski’s opening goal (6th).

Turnaround through sending off and disallowed goal

But the sending off of Cristian Romero (33rd/major foul) after a goal by ex-Bundesliga professional Heung-Min Son was disallowed for offside marked the turnaround in favor of the “Blues”.

Just two minutes later, Cole Palmer equalized for the guests. After Tottenham had been further decimated ten minutes after the break by the yellow-red card for Destiny Udogie (55th/repeated foul), Nicolas Jackson (75th) initiated Chelsea’s first success after two games without a win.

With two fewer players on the field, the home team tried in vain to equalize in the final phase and had good chances, but Jackson again made the decision with a brace (90th + 4/90th + 8).
