Postcard by James Webb, Braun advocates the mask and mea-culpa of Nestlé France

Did you miss the news this early morning? We’ve put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

The postcard sent from space by the James Webb Telescope is breathtaking. NASA unveiled Monday the deepest infrared image of the Universe ever taken, a sumptuous snapshot showing the first galaxies formed shortly after the Big Bang, more than 13 billion years ago. This first scientific and color image of the telescope marks a “historic” day, President Joe Biden greeted at an event held at the White House, six months after the launch into orbit of this space telescope, the most powerful ever designed. And it’s not over: other images must indeed be revealed on Tuesday by the American space agency.

Calls from the executive to put on the mask are more and more regular. To counter the new wave of coronavirus, the Minister of Health would also like to see the population get back to barrier gestures. François Braun thus solemnly called on Monday evening “to the good citizenship of each and everyone” on the wearing of a mask “in crowded places and public transport”, at the opening of the debates in the Assembly on the health bill. This must “become the norm again,” he insisted. Faced with the “rebound” of Covid-19, the minister also defended the “very targeted but necessary measures” of this first text of the legislature: the continuation of the collection of health data on tests and vaccination, and a possible health pass at the borders.

Christophe Cornu comes out of his silence to make an act of contrition. The CEO of Nestlé France presents his “apologies” to the families of children affected by contamination linked to the consumption of Buitoni frozen pizzas. He also announced the creation of a “victim support fund”, in an interview posted online Monday evening on the website of the Figaro. He deplores in particular “a human tragedy, where families and children are affected”. The Nord prefecture banned the activity of the Buitoni factory in Caudry by order of April 1, after the health authorities announced that they had established a link between the consumption of Fraich’up pizzas and several serious cases of contamination by E. coli. These pizzas are suspected of having caused the death of two children.
