Positive development on the labor market – Ebersberg

The good news first: The demand for staff in the region is still high. Workers are wanted. In March 2022, the local companies in the area of the Freising employment agency, which is also responsible for the Ebersberg district, informed about 978 new jobs to be filled. A total of 6005 job offers were listed in the job pool of the Employment Agency, 2177 more vacancies than in March a year ago and 1161 more than at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. The areas of transport, logistics, protection and security reported the greatest need for personnel, followed by commercial Services, trade, distribution and tourism. In all these areas together, staff were sought for 987 vacancies in March.

The revival is largely due to seasonal effects, explains Nikolaus Windisch, head of the Freising Employment Agency. The weather was good, so work could be resumed after the winter break in the weather-dependent sectors such as the main construction trades, roofing, gardening and landscaping and scaffolding.

The number of unemployed in the district of Ebersberg is developing somewhat better than in the districts of Erding, Freising and Dachau. It fell by 107 people in March. With a total of 1598 women and men who were registered as unemployed, the rate fell by 0.2 percentage points to 1.9 percent and thus reached the lowest value in the district of the Freising Employment Agency. It is now the same as it was in March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic. In March a year ago it was still 2.6 percent.

According to information from the Employer Service, 257 jobs were newly registered in March. A total of 1688 job offers are listed in the job pool of the employment agency for the district. That is 584 more jobs than in March 2021.

The news is not bad for the training market either. Since the beginning of the vocational guidance year on October 1st last year, the companies have reported – as in the same period of the previous year – 567 vocational training places to be filled in the district. 361 of them were still vacant in March. 429 young people sought support from the Ebersberg Employment Agency’s careers advice service in finding a suitable training position, twelve fewer than in the previous year. In March, however, 258 young people had not yet found any job or school prospects

Of course, the view into the future is not unclouded. As a result of the Ukraine war, economic burdens due to supply chain disruptions and energy price increases are expected nationwide. “Whether and to what extent these developments will also have a dampening effect on the regional labor market is not yet foreseeable,” says Nikolaus Windisch.
