In the morning, the police took action nationwide against hatred and hate speech on the Internet. As reported by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in Wiesbaden, there were around 130 “police measures” such as house searches and interrogations.

The BKA explained: “Calls for crimes, threats, coercion or hate speech online are crimes that can be punished with up to five years in prison”.
Already in previous years many hate postings
According to the information, the police had registered almost 3,400 cases of hate postings in 2022 – in the previous year there were around 2,410 cases.
In addition, many criminally relevant posts would not be displayed, the BKA said. These would only be reported to the network operators or expressed in closed chats. In this respect, a large dark field can be assumed.
Hate and hate speech online are breeding ground for radicalization and a source of impetus for acts of violence.
