Police come across a cannabis field during a “clearance” operation

Bingo! Criticized by some, praised by others, the multiple “XXL net square” operations launched in France have been preventing drug traffickers from sleeping for several days. In the North, if the results are not necessarily proportional to the resources deployed, police operations sometimes reserve a few surprises.

According to figures from the Northern prefecture, the various operations carried out in the department, particularly in the Lille area, have stripped delinquents of a significant part of their assets. More than 360,000 euros in criminal assets were seized as well as 24 weapons, 73 vehicles and more than 23 kg of drugs. In addition, 611 people were also arrested.

An indoor cannabis plantation

Among them, two Roubaisians, last Friday. The police arrived at the house noted on their list. During the search, they came across a large indoor cannabis plantation. Heat lamps, air extractors and no less than 500 good-sized cannabis plants occupied a large part of the premises. According to the DIPN du Nord, this would correspond, at harvest, to around 60 kg of merchandise for a resale amount estimated at one million euros.

The two individuals who occupied the house were arrested and referred to the public prosecutor. They were tried immediately before the Lille judicial court and sentenced to two and three years in prison. Sentences accompanied by a ban on French territory for 10 years.
