police check car on cycle lane and seize 776 mortar

“It is as much noise that the people of Strasbourg, the police and the firefighters, will not have to endure” confides a
police source. Friday in the middle of the afternoon in the district of Neudorf in Strasbourg, a police patrol controlled a car which rolled on a cycle track, to visibly make a maneuver. Intrigued by a garbage bag placed in the back seat, the police then discovered 15 mortar launchers.

On board the vehicle, the driver, in his thirties, and a young passenger of about fifteen, to whom the mortars belong. The police managed to trace the supplier, a 36-year-old man also living in the district of Neudorf.

82 tubes launch mortars

During the search of the latter’s home, police discovered 82 mortar tubes, each containing eight mortars, for a total of 776 mortars (including those seized from the car). Arrested, he will have to appear in court next February. As for the young minor, he was handed over to “his civilly responsible”, his parents. And of course the mortars were seized and destroyed.
