Munich Airport temporarily closed: “Last Generation” disrupts the start of the Whitsun holidays – Munich

At the start of the Bavarian Pentecost holidays, climate activists glue themselves to the airport grounds early in the morning. Around 60 departures are canceled and some arriving planes are diverted. There may be delays throughout the day.

Climate activists from the so-called “last generation” disrupted air traffic at Munich Airport on Saturday morning at the start of the Whitsun holidays in Bavaria. At dawn, a total of eight members of the group tried to break into the grounds of the “Franz Josef Strauss” airport. Six succeeded and two were arrested immediately after cutting through the fence, said a spokesman for the SZ Federal Police. A spokesman for the airport confirmed to the German Press Agency early in the morning: “The airport is closed for security reasons because climate activists have stuck themselves to the runways.”
