Police: Chase at 200 km/h on the A9 near Bayreuth – Bavaria

A driver sped away from the police at speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour and caused several accidents. As the police announced on Saturday, a 41-year-old driver was involved in a collision with two tractor-trailers on the A9 caused by the speeder and was slightly injured. She was taken to a hospital.

According to the police, a 65-year-old driver was to be subjected to a traffic stop on the A9 near Bayreuth on Friday afternoon. But instead of stopping, the man drove away in his car, sometimes at speeds of well over 200 km/h. According to the police, the collision between the two trucks occurred between Trockau and Pegnitz in the Bayreuth district due to the 65-year-old’s driving maneuvers. He then raced on to Middle Franconia, where he crashed his car into a sign in the curve of the exit at the Schnaittach junction (Nürnberger Land district) while leaving the motorway.

The accident put an end to the man’s attempt to escape. When he was arrested, officers discovered that he did not have a driver’s license and was under the influence of alcohol. He was also slightly injured in the accident at the motorway exit. A rescue helicopter took him to a clinic. His car was confiscated and towed away. The 65-year-old now has to answer for dangerous interference with road traffic, prohibited motor vehicle racing, hit-and-run and negligent bodily harm.
