Police arrest suspect after 17-year-old’s death

He is said to have killed a 17-year-old and a few days later attacked another woman with a knife. Now the police have arrested a 42-year-old suspect.
After the violent death of a 17-year-old and an attack on a 30-year-old in Lower Saxony, the wanted suspect has been caught. He was arrested on Wednesday evening and did not offer any resistance, said the Police with. The 42-year-old’s car was reported to have been found on the A7 around 7 p.m. The arrest took place in the Schwarmstedt area around an hour later.
The 17-year-old was out with her inline skaters on Sunday evening. A cyclist found the lifeless student in a ditch in a field in Barenburg, west of Nienburg, and alerted the police, who immediately began searching for clues at the crime scene. An autopsy confirmed that the teenager had been the victim of a violent act. She was therefore stabbed.
Days later the next attack on a woman
On Wednesday morning, a man – according to investigators, the same perpetrator as in the 17-year-old’s case – attacked a 30-year-old in front of a fast food restaurant just a few kilometers from Barenburg. She was seriously injured with a knife. According to the police, witnesses prevented things from getting worse and helped the woman. After the attack in Sulingen, she was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The police identified the suspected perpetrator based on his license plate number. The Verden district court issued an arrest warrant against the 42-year-old on Wednesday afternoon – on suspicion of completed and attempted manslaughter. “According to the current state of the investigation, he selected his victims at random and attacked them in an uncontrolled manner,” the police said.
People in the region are shocked
The investigators intensively searched for the man from Kirchdorf and published photos of him and his car. If you see the suspect or his car, who is considered dangerous, the police should be contacted immediately, it said.

According to his estimate, around 400 people came to a funeral service on Tuesday evening, said Pastor Klaus-Joachim Bachhofer from the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community of Kirchdorf.
