Poland is increasing the pressure on EU opinion in the election campaign

According to Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, Poland wants to build “the strongest army in Europe”. It wants to double its army in a few years, buys tanks and weapons from South Korea and the USA, and also gives numerous orders to the domestic armaments industry. That makes a lot of sense given the threat posed by Russia. At the same time, it is campaign noise. Hardly a speech by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki or the Defense Minister on the subject of the military in which they do not accuse the previous governments of Donald Tusk of “liquidating” entire units and exposing the country to immeasurable dangers. Because Tusk and his party, the Civic Platform, want to win back the majority in the Sejm in this autumn’s elections and re-establish the government.
