When the conversation turns to the subject of housing in Munich, you quickly find yourself looking for apartments that are reasonably affordable – and of which there are far too few. Christian Ude knows his way around, he was a well-known tenants’ attorney before he went into politics for the SPD. Ude was mayor of Munich for 21 years – and so the question arises whether he could not have done more for Munich’s tenants in this powerful position for so many years.
Are the players in the real estate industry really that strong? What are other cities like Vienna doing better? Why is the city so consistently behind its own housing goals?
