Sony has introduced new beta firmware for the Playstation 5. The most important improvement concerns the Dualsense – the console’s gamepad. On the one hand, the maximum volume of the built-in speaker is increased – this means you can hear sounds from games and messages from friends via voice chat better.
On the other hand, with better noise canceling, the player’s background noise is filtered out more. This filters out the clattering of the keys better, allowing other players to understand the transmitted language better.
The new firmware appears according to the Playstation Blog initially for selected participants in a few countries, including the USA, Germany, France and Great Britain – but not Austria and Switzerland.
Other Beta Firmware Changes: There are new ways to interact with players watching a full-screen screen share. So pointers and emoji reactions can now be used to interact with the host’s gameplay.
In addition, the brightness of the power indicator light on the console housing – i.e. the white or blue light depending on the status – can now be adjusted via the Playstation 5’s options menu.
In addition to these specific functional improvements, there should be the usual optimizations in system performance and stability. Sony is not specifying when the firmware will be made available to all console owners. There is usually a couple of weeks between these announcements and the wide release.
