Planegg: Sidewalk cafés are allowed to stay – district of Munich

The Planegger sidewalk cafés around Bahnhofstrasse are to remain, possibly even receive a spatial upgrade. The front gardens of some bars, named after an Austrian term, were “born out of necessity” during the Corona period, said economics officer Bärbel Zeller in the building committee. In particular, the “La Terrazza” restaurant on Bahnhofstrasse and the Tiziano ice cream parlor on Mathildenstrasse had repeatedly applied to be allowed to set up bar areas on the public areas in front of their premises, which was finally approved on a trial basis. Zeller said that since then the shops have received enormous additional popularity, at least the outdoor areas are very popular in the warm months. Zeller suggested making the sidewalk café a permanent fixture in the future. The speaker was well received by the municipal councils. Eva Schreier (Group 21) put it this way: “Public space shouldn’t just be for cars.” Peter von Schall-Riaucour (PPM) spoke of “eye-catchers on our shopping mile”. The regulation will initially apply for three years, in each case from April to October.
