Planegg; Municipal council passes record budget – district of Munich

As good as the message was – a record budget for 2022 – the mood in the municipal council was so gloomy. In the most recent budget session in Planegg, the currently frightening news from the Ukraine hit the mark. A mayor Hermann Nafziger (CSU), who said he was “depressed”, called on his local councilors to observe a minute’s silence for the victims of the war. And still chamberlain Peter Vogel, who explained his last household after 20 years, did so with the words: “Corona is not yet around the corner, we are confronted with a Ukraine war with serious consequences for us in Planegg.” Vogel warned before handing over to his successor Katharina Gaspers: “Inflation and higher energy prices, everything is volatile.” The current good economic situation in Planegg could “change quickly.” One should not build on “flying carpets”, but remain “down to earth and solid”. A budget for the current year with an increase of 130 percent compared to the previous year had to be approved: 84 million euros, the Planegger budget has never been so high. This is thanks to trade tax revenue of 48 million euros, which is primarily based on a healthy mix of trades in Planegg, Martinsried and Steinkirchen. Gaspers said it was not until the fourth quarter that the money would flow like this. Biotechnology companies play a large part in this. Planegg can use the money well, because there are expensive ongoing projects and others are pending: the subway construction, the renovation of the primary school and the renovation of the underground car park on the market square. Childcare alone devours four million euros. Planegg can now provide twelve million euros for the acquisition of the 14,000 square meter Heide property at the train station. But there was a little bit of criticism. The Greens believed in principle that one must “always question the reasonableness of spending and demand transparency.” The SPD takes issue with the 200,000 euros provided for a traffic report. The budget was approved with no dissenting votes.
