Planegg – mayor explains subway construction to children – district of Munich

The subway to Martinsried will be at least four years away. No reason for the children in classes 4a and 4b of the Martinsried elementary school not to ask questions now – for example about the reason for the tree clearing on the future route from the Großhadern clinic to the campus. And so headmistress Margit Baran-Lander summarily invited Mayor Hermann Nafziger (CSU) and his manager Stefan Schaudig – he has essentially been in charge of the subway negotiations for years – to the school.

The two brought plans with them on which they showed the children which construction measures are planned for the next few years. There were questions about the protection of animals and plants, but also what the underground means of mass transport means for the carbon dioxide balance. The students wanted to know what the subway area will look like when the construction work is completed. At the end of the one-hour question time, there was a vote on the sense and purpose of the subway to Martinsried. And, according to Mayor Nafziger, the result was the same as similar opinions among the population: around 80 percent of the children are in favor of the construction. The mayor was not sparing in his praise: “It’s great that you are dealing with this topic. You are the future and you have the right to questions and answers.”
