Planegg – construction worker drives around traffic lights and commits an escape – district of Munich

A 21-year-old construction worker severely damaged two traffic lights with his van on Thursday morning on Münchner Strasse in Planegg and then fled the accident. According to the police, the young man left the road at around 7.15 a.m. at the level of Röntgenstraße and ran over three traffic islands. The two traffic light poles were completely torn from their anchorage. The driver and other passengers got out, cleared the debris and drove on. Officers from the Planegg Police Inspectorate found the badly damaged van at a nearby construction site after a witness reported it. The traffic at the junction of Roentgenstraße and Münchner Straße had to be regulated by the police after the traffic lights failed. The damage amounts to 15,000 to 20,000 euros. The driver of the van is now awaiting reports of hit-and-run traffic.
