This is not the scandal surrounding Buitoni pizzas but caution is still required. Pizzas marketed by Auchan are the subject of a recall throughout France this Monday, because of the possible presence of glass in the dish.
According to the recall sheet published on the official website Consumption reminder, several pizza recipes are concerned: queen, goat’s cheese, Alsatian, Franche-Comté and tuna. They were all manufactured and distributed by the Auchan hypermarket located in Avallon (Yonne).
Glass in oregano
The pizzas were sold throughout France in Auchan stores between April 8 and 12, with a use-by date (DLC) set at 04/12/2024. They potentially contain broken glass in one of the ingredients that make them up.
Indeed, according to Rappel Conso, this debris could be found in the “oregano leaf” used to make pizzas. This ingredient comes from the supplier Laboratoire d’Herboristerie Générale. Due to the “possible but not proven” presence of this glass debris, the consumption of pizzas presents a risk of injury or undesirable side effects.
Customers are therefore invited not to eat these pizzas and to destroy them. They can also return them to the store for a refund. The recall procedure will end on May 15.
