Pink raves about Rammstein – and is surprised at the reaction of the Cologne audience
US singer Pink performed on Saturday evening as part of her “Summer Carnival” tour at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.

It was a triumph: 42,000 fans celebrated a boisterous party with Pink in Cologne. It only got quiet once: when the singer mentioned the band Rammstein. Afterwards the American explained herself.
What happened at the after show parties of Rammstein singer Till Lindemann? This question was played up and down in this country for weeks. In view of the media dominance of this debate, many forget that in other countries this was only a marginal topic, many people didn’t notice anything.
So did singer Pink, who performed in front of 42,000 spectators at the sold-out RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne on Saturday evening as part of her “Summer Carnival” tour. The mood is great and the 43-year-old gets a lot of applause for her speeches between the songs. For example, when the US musician wishes a “Happy Pride” and waves the rainbow flag – the big parade for Christopher Street Day will take place in the cathedral city this Sunday.

Only once was the audience’s reaction cool, to Pink’s astonishment. When the singer says she hopes her kids will buy her Rammstein tickets one day. “If you’ve never been to a Rammstein concert, you have to go there!” Says the American. “They set people on fire on stage.”

Pink was surprised at the silence in the audience – this is how the critic of the Cologne newspaper “Express” describes it in her review. And that’s what concertgoers report on Twitter. The singer responded with questions: “No? You don’t like Rammstein? Were they canceled? Why? Did they set someone on fire and not delete them? We really don’t like them? Okay, then we don’t like them together!”
After the performance, the singer commented on the scene on Twitter: “Someone explained it to me after the show,” wrote Pink and shared the tweet of a concert visitor who read an article in the English newspaper “Guardian” about the allegations against the Rammstein singer had shared.
Pink thanked her kindly – and will probably learn her lessons from it: this Sunday she will appear again in the same place. Then the event will most likely take place without mentioning Rammstein.
