Photo shoots, illuminations, DJ sets… The European Night of Museums is back

Saturday will be the 18th edition of the European Night of Museums. The principle of the event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the regional directorates of cultural affairs, is simple: museums, everywhere in France and Europe, will open their doors for free until midnight and beyond. For the occasion, many establishments are innovating by offering workshops, events, live shows…

In France, more than 3,000 museums, including 177 in Île-de-France, are playing the game. The event was undermined for two years due to the health crisis due to Covid-19. In 2020, it was offered in a 100% digital version. This 2022 edition marks the return of the physical reality of the event, which is intended to be accessible to all, hence the almost total free, and fun.

musical bet

Museums are making themselves even more Instagramable than they already are. Atypical photo shoots will be organized, such as at the Center Pompidou (Paris 4th) or even at the Petit-Palais (Paris 8th), which has the theme “the Belle Epoque”. In addition, some establishments, such as the Rodin Museum (Paris 7th), set up illuminations within their gardens, photo spots even more usable than in normal times.

Moreover, who says Saturday night says… music. What better than electro music to attract crowds. This is the bet that both classic and more modern museums have chosen to make. Particularly the Palace of the Golden Gate (Paris 12e), which organizes an evening with an oriental electro DJ set, made up of artists KasbaH, Paloma Colombe and Sharouh. The event is linked to the current exhibition “Jews and Muslims from colonial France to the present day”.
