Pharmaceutical industry – Merck replaces CFO – economy

Surprising change at Merck: Long-time CFO Marcus Kuhnert will resign from his post at the end of June, the pharmaceutical and technology group announced on Monday. Kuhnert, 54, had held the position for nine years. Kuhnert will be replaced on July 1 by Helene von Roeder, who comes from the real estate group Vonovia. There she was CFO until 2021 and most recently Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). With the change, Merck is the only company in the leading German index that has two women at the top: The Spaniard Belen Garijo is currently the only boss of a Dax group. The 52-year-old von Roeder, who studied physics, worked for various investment banks for 23 years. Her uncle, the former Lufthansa CFO Karl-Ludwig Kley, was CEO of Merck from 2007 and handed over the helm to Garijo’s predecessor Stefan Oschmann in 2016.
