With Thomas Gottschalk on the tractor: Peter Maffay starts talkshow with prominent guests
Thomas Gottschalk is the first guest on Peter Maffay’s new talk show “Encounters” – and he even allowed himself to be persuaded to take a tractor ride.

He is known as a musician, but Peter Maffay has also been a talk show host for some time. His new program “Encounters” starts on Sunday. His first guest is Thomas Gottschalk.
He can justifiably be called a thoroughbred musician: Peter Maffay has been in the music business for more than half a century and is one of the most successful German-speaking artists. A tour was actually planned for 2020, but the corona pandemic thwarted his plans.
A problem, not only for Maffay itself: His Red Rooster Musikproduktion GmbH in Tutzing has more than 20 employees. Should he close the shop during the crisis and send all employees home? Or is it not possible to do something completely different?
His “Peter Maffay Radio Show” gave rise to the talk show “Red Rooster TV”, which was broadcast on the Telecom channel MagentaTV. The concept: guests from various areas of society were invited, discussions and music played together.
Peter Maffay meets Thomas Gottschalk – and other prominent guests
It worked so well that the broadcaster commissioned another season. It starts this Sunday (November 14th) under the name “Peter Maffay – Encounters”. A total of eight episodes will be broadcast until Christmas, always on Sundays. To begin with, Maffay met up with his old friend Thomas Gottschalk. The two of them drove a tractor together, made music together – and, above all, talked intensively. “In the two and a half hours, Thomas let us see his immediate environment and his family,” says the musician in the star-Interview about the episode. “It was a very intimate conversation.”
In the following episodes, various guests from the fields of politics, business, show and sport meet – nobody knows in advance how these conversations will end. Among others, Sigmar Gabriel, Laura Karasek, Sahra Wagenknecht, Frank Elstner, Ralf Dümmel, Hartmut Engler, and soccer player Christian Günter will be there. “You know these names, you know some of these personalities from a distance and from the media,” says Maffay. “But it’s something completely different when you sit across from each other and when an atmosphere arises in which the guests are ready to open up a little.”
The eight episodes of the talk show “Encounters – Peter Maffay” will be shown on Magenta TV every Sunday from November 14th.
