The two older men who appeared in a great mood for the Munich/London video call in a hoodie only had one request in advance: no photos or screenshots. In public they prefer to hide behind elaborate stage costumes. They have been for more than 40 years Pet Shop Boys one of the most important pop bands, they have written more hits than most musicians have written songs. Neil Tennant, 69, and Chris Lowe, 64, have just recorded their 15th studio album. It has the wonderful title “Nonetheless” and will be released on April 26th. And it reminds us of a great truth of pop music: Life without the Pet Shop Boys is possible, but pointless.
