Perpetuity again required on appeal against Jean-Marc Reiser

A year apart between the two trials but the same sentence requested. The Advocate General requested Wednesday, before the Haut-Rhin Court of Appeal in Colmar, life imprisonment against Jean-Marc Reiser. The sexagenarian, who had already received the maximum sentence at first instance last summer in Strasbourg, is accused of having murdered in 2018 the young student Sophie Le Tan, whose dismembered body had been found in the forest in 2019.

“My intimate conviction, supported by the elements of the file, is that there was indeed homicidal intent and premeditation”, argued the magistrate, Jean-Luc Jaeg, beating for two and a half hours the thesis of blows resulting in death without the intention of giving it. A thesis supported by the defense, to rigorously demonstrate the “criminal intent” of the accused.
