Paul Auster, one of the most important American writers of our time, had his breakthrough in 1982 with the memoir The Invention of Loneliness, followed by the international bestseller The New York Trilogy. Auster has since published more than 30 books in 40 languages and has written the screenplays for two films. His latest novel “4321” was released in 2017 and is largely autobiographical. His latest book is a monograph on the American writer Stephen Crane, a chronicler of the late 19th century. Auster lives in Brooklyn with his wife, writer Siri Hustvedt. Auster turns 75 on February 3rd.
