Partnership: Porsche shares still under pressure: Porsche SE increases dividend significantly – talks with Apple about possible cooperation | news

This corresponds to an increase of around 16 percent compared to the previous year, as announced by the Volkswagen parent company. Accordingly, the total distribution amounts to 783 million euros (previous year: 676 million euros). The Annual General Meeting on May 13, 2022 will decide on the dividend proposal.

The dividend proposal also takes into account in particular the inflow of dividends by Porsche SE from Volkswagen AG, Wolfsburg. Due to a legal change, however, this dividend payment will initially be subject to a direct tax deduction of 26.375 percent, which will only lead to corresponding tax refunds in a subsequent year.

Porsche spoke to Apple about projects in 2021

Porsche and Apple have held initial talks about possible joint projects. That said the CEO of the sports car manufacturer without giving details. However, his comment during the German company’s annual results press conference could revive long-standing speculation about Apple’s possible entry into the automotive sector. Porsche executives traveled to the United States late last year to discuss potential collaborations with Apple and other tech companies, Blume said. “We already have Apple CarPlay. We’re going to expand that,” he said of the tech company’s software that connects iPhones to the dashboards of most new cars, adding, “We’ve discussed a number of exciting projects with Apple executives .”

Porsche’s parent company, Volkswagen AG, is preparing to list the company later this year. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The meeting between Blume, Porsche CFO Lutz Meschke and other Porsche executives with as-yet-unknown Apple executives took place on the sidelines of the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, a person familiar with the situation said.

The person referred to the meeting as an opportunity to get to know both sides, adding that there were no specific discussions about Apple’s car plans or negotiations. “There is nothing concrete at this point,” the person said. “It had nothing to do with a car. They talked about various digital projects.”

The rare admission by an automaker’s top executive that talks are underway with the dovish iPhone maker is the latest twist in Apple’s years of flirtation with the auto industry. Since 2014, the Cupertino, California-based tech giant has been exploring ways to go beyond CarPlay. Apple has considered developing its own car, people familiar with the effort said. In 2020, the company was exploring potential manufacturing partners and suppliers with a view to starting production in 2024, the parties said. In early 2021, South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group indicated it was exploring options with Apple before declaring talks had collapsed.

Porsche shares temporarily lost 0.15 percent to 82.04 euros in XETRA trading on Monday.
