In September the state parliaments will be elected in Brandenburg, Thuringia and Saxony – in surveys the AfD is ahead there. The Brandenburg CDU leader has a plan to change that.

The Brandenburg CDU leader Jan Redmann has called on his party and democratic competitors to take part in discussion events with the AfD to participate. “With a view to the election campaigns in the East, we must use as many opportunities as possible to provide content for AfD candidates,” Redmann told the Germany editorial network.

“We should also take part in all discussion events with AfD candidates at the constituency level in order to expose the conceptual emptiness of the AfD in front of an audience,” he said. “Only then do voters realize that the AfD has nothing to offer for the future of the country. But if we exclude the AfD and cancel discussions with it, that doesn’t make it weaker, but rather enables it to portray itself as a victim. “

In September the state parliaments will be elected in Brandenburg, Thuringia and Saxony – in surveys the AfD is ahead there. There are also local elections in nine federal states. The European Parliament elections will also take place in June.
