Paris-Marseille TGV traffic disrupted after an act of vandalism

After probable shootings on a TGV entering Marseille station on Wednesday evening, SNCF traffic was again very disturbed this Friday morning. An act of vandalism perpetrated on the night of Thursday to Friday near the town of Eurre, in Drôme, caused significant delays on the Paris-Marseille TGV line.

“This Friday, June 25 at around 3:30 am, south of Valence, four installations containing signaling cables located on the Mediterranean high-speed line suffered a fire,” SNCF said in a statement. “An act of sabotage was committed on the LGV line up to Eurre in the Drôme, electric cables located in the basement were set on fire along the tracks cutting off the power supply and the signaling”, for his part clarified Prefecture.

TER traffic is locally very disturbed

Due to this malicious act, the Valence-TGV station is no longer served, the trains being diverted to that of Valence Ville. TER traffic is locally very disrupted while delays estimated at at least one hour are to be expected for travelers using the TGV line in both directions.

The disturbances will last “at least until Saturday,” says the prefecture for its part. A complaint has been filed and a gendarmerie investigation is underway.
