A 50-year-old man was arrested during the night from Friday to Saturday May 14 in Paris, in the 18th arrondissement. He is suspected of having shot and killed another man in the ninth against the backdrop of a brawl between motorists and an obscure dispute.
Around 2:30 a.m., a fight broke out on Boulevard de Clichy opposite the Corcoran’s pub. Three men attack a fourth. A motorist passes by at the wheel of his BMW X5. He stops and tries to reason with the trio and orders them to stop.
“He was roundly sent on the roses”, says a source close to the case. The stung motorist returns to his car and grabs a 45-caliber Colt revolver, dating from 1911, and opens fire on the person who insulted him.
The victim’s body lies on the sidewalk.
The bullet hits the head and proves fatal. The alleged perpetrator gets back into the car and immediately flees. An anonymous correspondent alerts the police. A patrol goes to the scene and discovers the victim’s body lying on the sidewalk with a bullet in the middle of the forehead. The police set up a security perimeter and set up a white tent to make the first findings.
The CCTV cameras are immediately interrogated to find the author’s car. The officials of the anti-crime brigade find him in the rue Championnet while he is putting away a suitcase in his car. He drops his luggage, pulls out his revolver and flees on foot. Officials run after him.
A few meters further, the suspect stops because he is very out of breath. The police point him with their service weapons and order him to surrender. The fifties obeys them before being handcuffed.
The alleged perpetrator was wanted
The victim, Eric, is a 25-year-old man from Poissy. He lived in a working-class neighborhood on the outskirts of town called Clos Miroir. He was known in his neighborhood for acts of petty crime including narcotics. His father contacted Mayor Karl Olive (LREM) to express his disappointment. Failing to understand how a 50-year-old man could kill his son under such circumstances.
The alleged perpetrator, from the Belfort region, is known on social networks for his positions close to the far right and against the barrier measures of the health crisis. He had been wanted by a Parisian magistrate since a conviction.
He stood out in September 2020 by disrupting the program “Balance your post! hosted by Cyril Hanouna. He then made vehement and confused remarks about health policy in France. In other videos that can be found on Dailymotion, we also see him supporting Alain Soral and Dieudonné, the essayist and polemicist both convicted of anti-Semitic remarks.
The suspect was taken into custody at the police station where he should be questioned for forty-eight hours by investigators from the second judicial police district before the prosecution takes a decision on the follow-up to be given to this case.
