Paramount+ finally has a launch date in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It’s the beginning of December.

Paramount+ starts on December 8th, 2022 in Germany. This was announced by the streaming service of the US media group Paramount Global in a press release. The service will then also be available in Switzerland and Austria. Paramount+ emerged in March 2021 from the streaming service CBS All Access, which in turn started in 2014.

7.99 per month – Free for some Sky customers

To start with, Paramount+ offers a one-week free trial period. After that, the monthly costs are 7.99 euros. An annual subscription is available for EUR 79.90. Users will be able to login directly to Paramount+ starting December 8th. The service is also available on connected TV devices, including Apple, Amazon, Google, Samsung and Roku platforms.

For Sky users with a Sky Cinema package, Paramount+ is included in their subscription. The service’s app is also available on Sky Q.

Paramount+: This content is ready at launch

Paramount+ has access to material from CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and Showtime, among others. Like Paramount Pictures, these media belong to the umbrella group Paramount Global.

Paramount+ offers a couple of high-quality series to start with. So “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is waiting for the subscribers. The sci-fi series had already started in May in the USA on Paramount+. Also in the portfolio: The critically acclaimed western series “Yellowstone” with Kevin Costner (67) – and its prequel “1883”.

Series projects with top-class cast, which will celebrate their international premiere in the next few weeks, will then come to Germany in December. This includes the gangster series “Tulsa King” with Sylvester Stallone (76) and the western “1923” with Harrison Ford (80), who also comes from the “Yellowstone” universe.

For film fans, Paramount+ promises “Top Gun: Maverick” later this year. The cinema hit with Tom Cruise (60) is only available to buy or rent on various platforms.

First German in-house production comes at the end of December

Paramount+ has also announced the first German-language in-house production. “Der Scheich” by director Dani Levy (64, “Alles auf Zucker”) will be released on December 22 this year. A family man from Zurich pretends to be the scion of a rich Arab family.
