Panic at Google over Samsung – Economy

A possible end for Google as the default search engine on a large number of Samsung smartphones is affecting its parent company Alphabet. Alphabet shares fell as much as four percent to $104.90. As a result, the company temporarily lost almost 50 billion dollars in value. The background is a report by New York Timesaccording to which Samsung is considering replacing Google on its devices with the Microsoft search engine Bing.

Although Bing is far behind Google in terms of market share, it has recently benefited from the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) from chat GTP manufacturer OpenAI. The consideration caused panic at Google, since the contract with Samsung is worth three billion euros a year for the company. In addition, the 20 billion contract with Apple is up for renewal this year.
