The celebrated indie rock band Tocotronic is postponing the tour originally planned for March and April due to the corona. “Your safety and health come first,” the band wrote on Friday on their Twitter account to justify the “sad message”.

Germany kicks off on June 16th in Marburg. Before that, the band, based in Berlin and Hamburg, will play a concert in Zurich on June 15th.

“We apologize for any inconvenience, but the situation leaves us no other choice. We hope for your understanding and look forward all the more to seeing you again from June at beautiful and safe concerts.”

Singer Dirk von Lowtzow, bassist Jan Müller, guitarist Rick McPhail and drummer Arne Zank had already delayed the release of the latest album “Nie wieder Krieg” due to the corona in order to be able to go on tour with it straight away. The band’s twelve-song 13th album was released in January.

Tocotronic has been involved with indie rock for almost three decades. Despite having largely moved to the capital, the band is still counted among the most important representatives of the intellectual “Hamburg School” along with Blumfeld and Die Sterne. The last nine records have all placed in the top ten.
