Regardless of the recommendations of the Stiko, children and adolescents should in principle have the right to a booster vaccination. The Biontech vaccine is an option for them.

The federal government has provided more clarity with so-called booster vaccinations for children and adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age.

According to a letter that Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) has sent to the federal states, among other things, they have “regardless of the recommendations” of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko). The Biontech vaccine is an option for them. Moderna should therefore only be administered from the age of 30.

In the case of vaccination damage in children and adolescents, the federal government guarantees a claim to care provided that an mRNA vaccine such as Biontech is used that is approved for this group of people.

The Berlin Senator for Health, Ulrike Gote (Greens), announced that since (this) Wednesday, 12 to 18-year-olds should be able to get a booster vaccination three months after the last vaccination.
