The EU has decided to significantly improve its external border security. However, the expectation that this will largely reduce the influx of refugees is an illusion. Even countries like China and Russia cannot effectively control their borders. That’s not necessary because no one wants to flee to these countries. The GDR once managed to completely seal off its territory. However, it took more than a wall and fierce German Shepherds. This would not have been possible without the associated police state with 189,000 informants.
There is no country of refuge that can keep its borders even remotely sealed. Great Britain is failing to stop the invasion of the “small boats” on which thousands of refugees are sailing across the Channel. The USA has four borders. Three of them – Canada, Atlantic, Pacific – are under control. However, the refugee trek has been rolling across the border with Mexico without interruption for decades. And no one can accuse the Americans of not doing everything they can to stop him.

The US border with Mexico is more than 3,000 kilometers long. The EU’s external border measures almost 9,000 kilometers in the east alone. On the other side are ten different states. The border is three times as long and three times as confusing as the desert in the southern USA.
