Ottobrunn: Leak in the district heating line – district of Munich

The failure of the district heating supply on Saturday caused the heating to fail for a few hours in several hundred households west of the S-Bahn line in the communities of Ottobrunn, Taufkirchen, Brunnthal and Hohenbrunn-Riemerling. The Phönix-Bad in Ottobrunn was also affected, as was the Ikea furniture store in the Brunnthal commercial area, as a spokeswoman for Stadtwerke München (SWM) confirmed on Monday when asked.

First of all, on Saturday afternoon, local residents complained to the Ottobrunn volunteer fire brigade that there was no longer any hot water coming out of the tap and the radiators were also cold. In the meantime, the Stadtwerke discovered a leak in the pipe system of the district heating network and found the exact location of the damage in the Hohenbrunner Weg area in Taufkirchen. At the request of SWM, the fire brigade transported thousands of liters of distilled water from the Munich South thermal power station in Sendling to Bioenergie Taufkirchen to replace the leaked water.

In the Phönix-Bad only the showers got colder

Ottobrunn Mayor Thomas Loderer (CSU), who contacted the SWM management about the Phönix-Bad, stated: “Ultimately, the pools were able to keep the water temperature well, only the showers were getting colder and colder.” Visitors were given a 20 percent discount on the entrance fee for the inconvenience. The all-clear did not appear until 10 p.m. on Saturday. “It was clear that we would be able to unlock the bathroom on Sunday, and the heating in the households would work again around midnight.”

According to Loderer, the quick solution was mainly due to a supply of district heating from Munich. “As far as I know, this was the first time that warm water was pumped from Perlach into the Ottobrunn pipeline.” According to an SWM spokeswoman, mobile “heating centers” were set up at individual locations in Ottobrunn on Monday. After the last repairs in the Jägerweg area, the devices should be dismantled.
