Ottobrunn – “Heavily impressed” – District of Munich

After the serious fire in a bungalow in Ottobrunn, Mayor Thomas Loderer (CSU) is full of praise for the local fire brigade and rescue workers. “Thank you for the excellent work,” he said on Wednesday to the commander of the Ottobrunn fire brigade, Eduard Klas. He was “deeply impressed” by how all fire and rescue services “worked very, very well together”. Around 150 workers from various fire brigades in the area as well as rescue services had tackled the scene of the accident the evening before. There were 66 from the Ottobrunn fire department alone.

The reason for Klas’ visit to the meeting was not the fire, but the introduction of the new deputy commanders. Because recently, at the suggestion of Klas, the local council decided that there should be two instead of one deputy in the future. The background to the concern was the many tasks and the size of the fire brigade. From November 6th, Klas will be supported by Alain Kretschmer as first deputy and Manuel Aulenbach as second deputy. In the election of the commanders they were elected as deputies. Klas was confirmed in office.

Kretschmer and Aulenbach have also been active in management positions in the fire brigade for a number of years. The 44-year-old Kretschmer works in the fire brigade operations center of the district of Munich, is married and has two children. Aulenbach, son of the parliamentary group leader of the Ottobrunn Citizens’ Association, Erika Aulenbach, is supposed to contribute to the rejuvenation of the fire brigade, among other things. He is 33 years old, works in an engineering office and is also married with two children. The long-standing deputy, Klaus Ortmeier, was no longer running for election. But he will remain with the fire brigades. “My decision was made to make room for younger people,” he said.

Klas emphasized that it is not just large-scale operations like fire that make up the work of the fire brigade, but also the many small operations that occur almost every day. “I can assure you that we will continue to be very motivated,” he said.
