Less than a week after the fatal fire in an underground car park in Ottobrunn, it is still not clear what an 85-year-old driver died of. According to previous police investigations, the man wanted to drive out of the garage on Feldstrasse at around 9 a.m. on Thursday before New Year’s Eve. For reasons unknown before, the engine compartment of his car became hot and ignited. The car burned out and the 85-year-old was found dead in it. An autopsy should now clarify whether he was burned, died as a result of smoke inhalation or possibly collapsed before the fire at the wheel due to an illness. The amount of property damage has not yet been determined either. The fire also damaged two other cars and a scooter, and the statics of the underground car park could also be impaired.
