Oscar presenter Amy Schumer has spoken out about Will Smith’s attack on Chris Rock. She was “shocked, paralyzed and sad”.

Even on the third day after the 94th Oscars, there is disbelief at the violent blow that actor Will Smith (53) gave comedian Chris Rock (57) live and in front of an audience of millions. Via her official Instagram account Comedian Amy Schumer (40) has now commented on the incident. She was one of the three presenters of the gala alongside Regina Hall (51) and Wanda Sykes (58) and was therefore very close when Smith lost his composure and became violent after a joke about his wife.

On a photo of himself, Schumer wrote, among other things: “Seriously, I’m still emotional and traumatized, I love my friend Chris Rock and think he handled it like a pro – staying on stage and his friend Questlove the Oscar to hand over.” The whole affair was “so disturbing” and apparently Smith was in “so much pain”.

Schumer describes her own emotional state as “shocked, paralyzed and sad. […] I’m still waiting for that vile feeling to go away after what we’ve all been through.”

What happened?

After Chris Rock cracked a joke about the shaved head of Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, 50, during his Oscars eulogy, the actor stormed onto the stage and slapped the comedian. Probably an unfortunate misunderstanding: According to reports, Rock did not know that the actress had an autoimmune disease behind the hairstyle – she suffers from alopecia, i.e. disease-related hair loss.

Smith has since publicly apologized to his victim and the Oscar Academy. However, they are currently checking what consequences the outbreak of violence could have for the star. It is possible that Smith will have to give back his first Oscar, which he received in tears just minutes after the attack. He received the golden boy for his leading role in the biopic “King Richard” about the tennis stars Serena (40) and Venus (41) Williams and their father Richard (80).
