The lower Rhône valley, from Avignon to the sea, was placed on flood orange alert Tuesday by Météo France with a peak expected in the middle of the evening. “The spread of floods from its tributaries causes a flood of the Rhône” and “some damaging overflows are locally possible”, warns Vigicrues in its vigilance bulletin.
This is an episode of “significant spring flood” with abundant rains during the night from Monday to Tuesday on the massifs of the Cévennes, Gard and Ardèche, associated with the snowmelt which continues and causes “a significant flood of the downstream Rhône”.
