The Chinese smartphone manufacturer presented new technologies and foldable smartphones of the second generation for 2023 at its “Inno Day 2022” (Innovation Day). It is currently uncertain when the two foldables, the “Oppo Find N2” that can be used as a tablet and the “Oppo Find N2 Flip” in a folding design, will be launched next year in Europe and especially in Switzerland. The two foldable smartphones are always interesting.
Oppo presented their next-generation premium foldable smartphones: the Find N2, which can be used as a tablet, is shown on the left and the Find N2 Flip in a folding design is shown on the right. According to Oppo, both should set new standards with revolutionary hardware solutions and innovative software solutions.
The 2nd generation foldable smartphone line-up consists of the Oppo Find N2, the successor to the company’s first foldable smartphone, the Oppo Find N, and the first foldable smartphone, the Oppo Find N2 Flip. According to the manufacturer, the latest devices in the Find N series set new standards for foldable smartphones. They are characterized by their slim, lightweight handling, almost invisible fold line and industry-leading performance. Both smartphones will come to the Chinese market immediately after their debut at INNO Day 2022. The Find N2 Flip will be Oppo’s first new form factor device to be launched in international markets in the coming year.

Find N2 Flip – an optimized flip smartphone solution
With Oppo’s first flip-phone-style device, the Oppo Find N2 Flip, the company launches a streamlined solution for the most popular type of foldable devices. After three years of development, the Find N2 Flip has been able to eliminate many of the weaknesses of previous folding smartphones. This includes the following features:
Largest external display of any clamshell: This ensures more usability and a more functional portrait format display for important daily tasks, e.g. B. for the simultaneous display of up to six notifications and easier preview of the photos taken with the premium camera system.
It is the first foldable smartphone in a clamshell format that features lower power consumption thanks to the 4300 mAh capacity battery and the customized «MediaTek Dimensity 9000+» chipset, thus offering battery life for the whole day.
Thanks to the 2nd generation Flexion Hinge with an optimized waterdrop design, the inner display has a practically invisible fold line.
After the China launch, the Find N2 Flip will officially launch in many other countries including most of Europe early next year. Further details on the international version of the device will be announced at launch.
Find N2 – the lightest horizontal foldable on the market
The Oppo Find N2 is the successor to the Find N, the pioneering foldable smartphone that was unveiled to the public at last year’s Inno Day. The new Find N2 in black vegan leatherette version is the lightest foldable smartphone on the market with a weight of only 233 g. It’s even lighter than some traditional-sized premium smartphones. In addition, the Find N2 is very slim. When closed, it measures just 14.6mm. In conjunction with the groundbreaking landscape aspect ratio of the interior display and the full-format exterior display, which the Find N is also equipped with, the Oppo Find N2 proves to be a practical, intuitive device for everyday use.

2nd Generation Flexion Hinge
This amazingly light construction was made possible by Oppo’s pursuit of technical excellence. Oppo has developed an even smaller, slimmer and more robust hinge system for the Find N2, based on the 1st generation «Flexion Hinge». The second generation Flexion Hinge uses industry-leading materials such as carbon fiber and high-strength aerospace alloys. The hinge consists of around 100 components – 36 parts less than in the previous generation. In addition to improvements to the display and internal structure, the weight of the Find N2 has been significantly reduced by 42g compared to the original Find N, without compromising on quality.
The improved structure of the 2nd generation Flexion Hinge also ensures that the fold line is even less visible compared to the previous Find N. The center fold line of the Find N2’s interior display is 67% narrower, allowing for even more uninterrupted use at work and entertainment. Thanks to the improved hinge, there is no gap to be seen on the Find N2 even when it is closed.

Carbon fibers are also used for the interior display of the Find N2, which saves weight and makes the device even more robust. TÜV laboratory tests showed that the Find N2 still works perfectly even after up to 400,000 folding processes.
Both the outer display and the inner display of the Find N2 have a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The color temperature sensors on both displays ensure that the image reproduction is nuanced and precisely adapted to the surrounding conditions.
The 7.1-inch inner display reaches a peak brightness of 1550 nits and is anti-glare, which ensures higher playback quality outdoors and enables an even more immersive experience of the large display. The 5.54-inch external display offers a peak brightness of 1350 nits. Thanks to the optimized Flexion Hinge of the 2nd generation, the frame of the outer display has been reduced by 47% compared to the previous Find N model.

Thanks to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform, fast 5G speeds, a large 4520 mAh battery and 67W SuperVOOC charging technology, the Find N2 is one of the most powerful ultra-fast charging foldable smartphones currently available is available on the market.
Versatile camera for creative design
The Find N2 also features an all-new Hasselblad-tuned triple camera system and Oppo’s powerful MariSilicon X imaging NPU. The device supports the FlexForm recording process, which enables versatile photography and studio-ready selfies.
The 50 Mpx main camera is equipped with the leading image sensor «Sony IMX890»; the ultra wide-angle camera with a resolution of 48 Mpx can also be used for macro shots. The 2x Telephoto RGBW camera with 32 Mpx suppresses image noise and delivers better portrait and zoom shots.
Special features of ColorOS for foldables
The Oppo Find N2 runs special foldable software based on ColorOS 13. The operating system ColorOS is based on the Google operating system Android and so ColorOS 13 should offer the best of Android 13.
Oppo has further optimized the split display display. This also includes the typical two-finger gesture for sharing the display, which was introduced on the Find N last year. A two-finger swipe down the center of the 7.1-inch interior display quickly and easily activates split-screen viewing, which showcases the large display to its full advantage.
In the split screen display, you can easily take a screenshot of just one of the apps or both apps. If you swipe down with three fingers on the left or right side, a screenshot of the respective app is taken. A three-finger swipe down the center captures the entire split-screen display.
In order to be able to use the FlexForm mode optimally, Oppo has developed the FlexForm Space on the Find N2. Fold the device for a second to activate the FlexForm Space, which shows the recently used apps, films and music titles. The Find N2 becomes a mini notebook, with which you can, for example, watch a film on the upper display and use the lower display as a trackpad.
Prices and Availability
When the two presented foldable smartphones Oppo Find N2 and the Oppo Find N2 Flip will be available in Germany in 2023 is still uncertain. So there are currently neither prices nor launch dates.
