Christopher Nolan’s film about the inventor of the atomic bomb won five Golden Globes. “Oppenheimer” won the trophies for best drama, best actor (Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer), best supporting actor (Robert Downey Junior as Lewis Strauss) and best original score. Nolan himself also won an award for his directing.

Two awards for “Barbie”

The hit film “Barbie” was nominated nine times, but only won two awards: for the best film song – written by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas – and in the new category for the highest-grossing film.

“Anatomy of a Case” from France won the Globe for best foreign language film. In it, German actress Sandra Hülser plays an author who is accused of murdering her husband. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her role, but missed out on the award.

In the television categories, the series “Succession” led the way with four Golden Globes. It’s about the owner of a media empire and the question of who in the family should be his successor.

More diverse jury than in previous years

300 journalists from 75 countries voted on the prizes. The President of the Golden Globes, the German Helen Hoehne, emphasized the diversity of the jury before the award ceremony – there had been repeated criticism of this in recent years.

The Golden Globes are considered an important mood test before the Oscars. Who is nominated for this award will be announced on January 23rd.
