In Friday’s announcement, popular NFT marketplace OpenSea launched its “OpenSea Ventures” initiative to support companies and projects in the marketplace for NFT and Web3 tokens by offering funding and access to leadership and investors.
“We hope that OpenSea Ventures will provide Web3 developers and NFT creators around the world with the resources they need to build a new decentralized economy. That gives creators, developers and consumers more freedom and ownership,” the company said.
OpenSea joins a number of crypto startups that have launched their own ventures, including Unicorns, Alchemy and FTX, that are committed to investing $2 billion in crypto startups.
For OpenSea Ventures, the new action will focus on four main themes: new NFT protocols, social projects and games, and NFT aggregators.
OpenSea has also announced a new “Ecosystem Grants” program, saying, “We see Ecosystem Grants as a way to kickstart a community idea and provide ongoing financial support to projects we believe have the potential to expand. web3 and the NFT universe,” the company said.
