Open letter – growth skeptics call for construction freeze – district of Munich

“Gigantic construction projects”, an overheated real estate market, rapid population growth: these do not fit together for an overarching citizens’ alliance in Munich-North. In an open letter to the Munich city council and the city’s elite that became known on Wednesday, six groups expressed their concerns: “In our opinion, the current planning has lost all sense of proportion and will increase Munich’s pull even further,” the letter from the Eigenheimerverein said Feldmoching, the Lerchenau Citizens’ Association, “Heimatboden”, the Garden City Munich Alliance, the Fasanerie aktiv association and the “Save the North of Munich” action group. The main requirement is a temporary stop for all planned construction projects and their re-evaluation. “We here in the north of Munich know what we’re talking about, because the Herberg- / Hochmuttinger Strasse, Ratold- / Raheinstrasse, Eggarten, Lerchenauer Feld and Ludwigsfeld housing projects are just a few examples of major projects in our city district.” There are similar developments in other parts of the city.
