Online advertising – EU investigates Google – Economy

The EU Commission is investigating the Facebook group Meta and Google because of possible distortion of competition in online advertising. An agreement between the two companies could aim to exclude competition, said EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, who is responsible for competition. Google rejected the suspicion. Google and Meta are indeed competitors in the online advertising market. After the 2018 agreement, however, Facebook takes part in auctions for ad spaces on a Google platform. For example, Google auctions online advertising space on websites or in apps in real time.
